ASIAN FOODWAYS:THAI

Thai food in Wood County is a distinctive cuisine that draws from Chinese and Indian food traditions. It relies heavily on rice, but sometimes uses "sticky rice" rather than the white rice more common in the Far East. Noodles are also a common base for a dish. The cuisine includes soy sauce and ginger-based stir-fries along with coconut and peanut based curries commonly associated with India. It also uses some distinctive ingredients such as lime juice, lemon grass, and fermented fish sauce. Unlike most Asian cuisines, Thai food is traditionally eaten with a spoon or balls of rice are dipped by hand into sauces. The best-known Thai dish is Pad Thai, noodles stir fried with small pieces of meat and vegetables, served with fresh bean sprouts, chopped peanuts, and fresh basil.
