Corn MazeCome any time and take a
Wood County Historical Center

Take a stroll across the front lawn of the Historical Center and admire the scarecrows and a storybook walk of "The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything" by Linda Williams and illustrated by Megan Lloyd.

The Storybook Walk is a partnership with financial support from the B.G. Kiwanis, the Children's Place at the Wood County District Public Library, and a retired educator. Read about the original StoryWalk®

  • Contest scarecrows will be left on display for the Folklore and Funfest at the Historical Center.

Corn MazeOctober Weekends  |  1-4 PM (last tour starts at 3:30)
Wood County Historical Center

Join us for our first-ever corn maze at the Historical Center! See if you can make it through in 30 minutes. Friends and families welcome.

$5/person, children age 3 and under free. Corn Maze admission includes same-day Museum admission.


* Corn Maze also open during the Folklore & Funfest - October 15, 4-9 PM (last tour starts at 8:30 PM, free during Folklore & Funfest event only)

* Corn Maze also open during Friday Night Folklore Tours - October 28, 6-8 PM (last tour starts at 8 PM, $5 admission or free with Friday Night Folklore Tour admission)

Scarecrow Making Workshop and ContestOctober 11

Individuals and groups welcome. The Wood County Park District provides straw, string, support pole, and refreshments; you bring clothes, decoration, and support for the scarecrow’s back and arms. Enter your scarecrow in the annual contest and leave on display at the Historical Center.

Friday Night Folklore Tour Story Stop

Tours start at 7:00, 8:00, & 9:00 PM - extra tours added as needed


90-minute guided folklore tours of the former Wood County Infirmary (now the Historical Center & Museum) start inside the Oil Derrick, through the spooky trail to the Corn Barn, Pauper's Cemetery, Lunatic Asylum, and conclude inside the museum with "master of wonder" Dorian Grey, professional magician.

Dorian Gray, professional magicianTours start at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 9 PM and reservations are required by calling 419-352-0967. Dress appropriate for the weather, especially footwear and outerwear. Tours start ON TIME so please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tour time. Lateness could result in forfeting your tour.

$12 adult  |  Discounts for WCHS Members and Students

Added features: New Historical Center CORN MAZE will be open from 6:00-8:00 PM that night and is included with purchase of a Friday Night Tour ticket. Last Corn Maze tour begins at 8:00 PM
