DESCRIPTION:*****SOLD OUT! WAIT LIST AVAILABLE!***** \n“Hayes Family Holiday Traditions” \n19th president of the United States Rutherford Hayes loved celebrating the holidays with his family.  As he recorded in his diary\, “I do not think I ever enjoyed a Christmas so much when I was a little fellow\, as I do now in seeing the happiness of my children.”  Come hear about all the little things Rutherford and his wife Lucy did to make the holidays special for family\, guests\, and staff\, both at home in Spiegel Grove and at the White House. \nAbout the Speaker: Christie M. Weininger is the executive director of the Hayes Presidential Library & Museums in Fremont\, Ohio. Christie holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Otterbein University and a master’s degree in history from the University of Toledo.  While at Otterbein\, Christie spent a semester abroad at Roehampton Institute in Wimbledon\, England\, where studying “local history” meant working with documents that were 600 years old.  Christie was the director of the Wood County Historical Center\, Bowling Green\, for nine years and spent seven years as director/curator of the Wyandot County Museum\, Upper Sandusky.   She is a former adjunct instructor of Public History and Ohio History at Heidelberg University in Tiffin.  Christie is a past president of the Ohio Local History Alliance and chaired that organization’s Advocacy Committee.  She also served the Ohio Academy of History as chair of the Public History Committee.  She is currently the president of the Ohio Travel Association and the vice president of the Ohio Museums Association.  Christie loves to go road tripping in a car filled with friends\, family\, snacks and a road atlas. \nEach monthly tea & talk starts with a catered luncheon\, warm tea\, and a unique presentation over a topic of interest.
