SUMMARY:Tea & Talk Series: Rations\, Recipes\, and Victory Gardens
DESCRIPTION:***SOLD OUT – CALL TO BE PUT ON THE WAITLIST*** \n  \n“Rations\, Recipes\, and Victory Gardens” \nIn 1943 when First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt planted her Victory Garden on the White House lawn\, she followed thousands of other Americans who were taking steps to help America “win the war with food!” Through the utilization of personal letters\, diary excerpts\, and original recipes\, guests will be brought directly into the 1940s American home during WWII.  While many men were fighting abroad\, American families were also helping to fight the battle through any means possible at home – which included donating back excess bacon grease to butchers to produce glycerin for bombs! \nThe presentation will follow a menu that will provide the backdrop to each unique and personal story from families who lived in Ohio during the war.  These personal accounts will highlight how Americans persevered while maintaining hope and faith that Allied forces would triumph. Each guest will have a chance to sample period recipes while also receiving their own ration book which includes unique recipes connecting back to wartime stories.  Join us for a taste of history that will bring back nostalgic memories of meatloaf\, potatoes\, and of course – Spam! \n  \nAbout the Speaker: \n  \n  \nEach monthly tea & talk starts with a catered luncheon\, warm tea\, and a unique presentation over a topic of interest. Reservations are required and are due the Friday before each tea. All Ticket Sales are Final. Tickets are final sale & non-refundable. Handicap accessible facilities. Groups Welcome. \nPrice: $25/Museum Members\, $30/Non-Members\, $30/Gluten Free/Vegan Meal
