SUMMARY:The Great Depression Lecture Series - "The Roaring Twenties? Consumption\, Credit\, and Change in American Cities"
DESCRIPTION:The Great Depression Lecture Series – “The Roaring Twenties? Consumption\, Credit\, and Change in American Cities”\nFebruary 4 | 6:00PM\nWood County Museum Meeting Room\nFREE \nIn 1920\, for the first time in American history\, more citizens lived in urban areas than in the rural countryside. Allured by economic opportunity and growing creature comforts\, Americans moved in droves to stake claims in the bustling urban economy. In this month’s lecture\, we will discuss the changing nature of American cities focusing specifically on economic\, political\, and cultural conditions. In doing so\, we will ask a simple question: were the twenties “roaring” and\, if so\, for who? \nThis is the second installment in the Great Depression Lecture Series\, an America 250 program. This is a Wood County Park District lead event\, in partnership with the Wood County Museum.
