Consumption\, Credit\, and Change in American Cities”\nFebruary 4 | 6:00PM\nWood County Museum Meeting Room\nFREE \nIn 1920\, for the first time in American history\, more citizens lived in urban areas than in the rural countryside. Allured by economic opportunity and growing creature comforts\, Americans moved in droves to stake claims in the bustling urban economy. In this month’s lecture\, we will discuss the changing nature of American cities focusing specifically on economic\, political\, and cultural conditions. In doing so\, we will ask a simple question: were the twenties “roaring” and\, if so\, for who? \nThis is the second installment in the Great Depression Lecture Series\, an America 250 program. This is a Wood County Park District lead event\, in partnership with the Wood County Museum.

Members may not make reservations for non-members on their behalf*** \n  \nAbout the Speaker: Bette Lou Higgins \nBette Lou Higgens\, Eden Valley Enterprises: A founding member and now the Artistic Director of Eden Valley Enterprises\, an educational and cultural organization that developed living history programs beginning in the 1970s. Her professional life has been spent combining theatrical skills and knowledge of history to depict Ohio’s unique historical figures.
