Skelton John is ready for the last 2024 Music at the Museum concert tonight!

This FREE COMMUNITY EVENT will be starting at 6:00PM for a with live music, food trucks, a beer tent, and kids activities!

September 19th Music Line Up: 6:00 PM – GRUBS (Grande Royale Ükulelists of the Black Swamp) 7:00 PM - Trip-Lettes, and 8:00 PM – Corduroy Road.

#weddingwednesday - September 15, 1951 - Barbara Boyer & Edward Dale Brandeberry

Barbara was born on July 30, 1930 to Harriet Jablonski and Aquilla Boyer in Toledo, Ohio. Barbara was adopted by her grandparents Bert and Troila Boyer. After Bert sold his meat market in Toledo, in the 1940s the family moved to Oscoda, Michigan. Bert operated a fishing resort on Lake Michigan.

Barbara graduated in 1948 from Oscada High School. She then moved back to Toledo and worked for the National Exchange Club Headquarters.

Edward Dale was born on July 3, 1925 to parents Mary (Rosendale) and Fred Brandeberry in Bloomdale, Ohio. After high school Edward attended Ohio Wesleyan University and became a minister serving as the associate pastor for St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Toledo. Barbara sang in the church choir.

Edward’s ministry took the couple and their two children, William and Linda, all over the United States, and settling in Bowling Green at the time of retirement.

Rev. Edward D. Brandeberry died on December 18, 2004
Barbara Brandeberry passed away on November 30, 2019
The couple is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green, Ohio

Rev. Edward D. Brandeberry is related to former Infirmary Superintendent Frank Brandeberry.
Fred’s father William Brandeberry is the half-brother of Frank’s father Isaac Brandeberry.

This week’s #whatisitwednesday is a Dictaphone!

The Dictaphone was an American company founded by Alexander Graham Bell that produced dictation machines. A lot like Band-Aids and Kleenex, the name "Dictaphone" is trademarked, but has become a generalized term for a dictation machine. Voice would be recorded on a wax cylinder and could be played back after recording. Dictaphones evolved over time, transitioning from wax cylinders to cassette tapes. The company that created it evolved too, moving from dictaphones to answering machines and the modern voicemail system.

#toytuesday - Check out this adorable wind-up tin penguin toy, circa 1910. Wind-up toys were first introduced to Europe in the late 15th century for wealthy aristocrats, a branch of the clock-making industry. Tin toys like the one pictured here did not reach the masses until the Industrial Revolution made it possible for such objects to be made quickly, cheaply, and in large quantities.
