#poorfarmfriday - As early at 1831, the Butler County Commissioners purchased a tract of land to construct an infirmary building. The farm was 192 acres with 140 acres of tillable land including a 2-acre garden and 10-acre orchard. A two-story brick building with basement and 14 rooms served the paupers of Butler County until 1884, when the decision was made to build a new and more modern infirmary structure....

Cultural property collections require a great deal of care and protection in order to ensure their safety from external loss or damage, but they also require in-depth documentation to assist in tracking the life of the object within the holding institution. To accommodate these needs, collectors adhere to collections management and collections care standards and practices, which serve to create a safe environment for collection objects with clear and precise accompanying documentation.
