✨Appreciation Post✨ We would like to send the Wood County Maintenance department a big thank you! This week they fixed the door on the powerhouse of the oil derrick building in our Boomtown Area. 🔨

Tomorrow kicks off the 4th Annual Early Ohio on the Portage event!

See history come alive with this Living History Reenactment event that features costumed interpreters portraying life during the exploration of the Northwest Territory and the Ohio Country, especially along and near the Portage River in Wood County. Experience early European settlers, military and political growth, and home life activities through period reenactors from 1700s to 1860s.

Event dates & hours:
Friday May 3rd from 10AM – 3PM
Saturday May 4th from 10AM – 5PM
Sunday May 5th from 10AM – 3PM

In addition to the event schedule there will also be a historic dance, “Lady Brandeberry’s Ball”, on May 4th at 6PM. The Ball will feature music by The Root Cellar String Band and dance caller Marlin Whitacre will teach contra dancing with music fitting the era. This historic dance is free for all to attend and costumes are encouraged (think Bridgerton)! Following the Ball, there will be a free Evening Lantern Tour around the event camp and museum grounds at 8:30PM.

We ain't got nothing but love for our collections. Eight days a week! Today’s #WhatIsItWednesay is none other than John, Paul, George, and Ringo…THE BEATLES!! While doing research on these 2.5 inch figures we found that we are, possibly, in possession of one of the rarest Beatles collectables ever made!

Subbuteo is a table top football (soccer) game where players flick the figures across a playing table. Football players were their most common figures but they also made figures for cricket, rugby, and hockey. Over the course of the company’s existence, one set of figures sticks out; those of the “Fab Four”. The story is that Subbuteo founder, Peter Adolph, met The Beatles early in their career and made a deal with the band to make the figures in 1964. The company only produced a small number of these figures, making them a rare find for both Subbuteo and Beatles ephemera collectors. But beware, there are fakes! After looking at the photos, and comparing, we hope we have the real deal! Sadly, we don't have the original box or Ringo’s drum set, but it is still a very cool addition to our collections.
