In the museum’s collections are dozens of cameras, ranging from the Beacon II of the 1950s to the Browning Fiesta R4 of the 1960s and the Instamatic X-25 of the 1970s. In the mid-20th century, millions of cameras were sold to people interested in capturing images of their daily lives.
#Museum30 Day 16: Last 12 Months (yes, we know we #Museum30 Day 16: Last 12 Months (yes, we know we are a day late)

The last twelve months at the Wood County Museum have been nostalgic for many of us. As you have already heard us say, we have been celebrating our 50th year as a Museum! We opened back in 1975 and things were very different then. We didn’t have heat in more than half the building, we had a small collection of artifacts and furniture, many of the buildings were in various states of dis-repair (the old farm buildings were being used at the end of the infirmary’s exsistence), and very little money to put on large events or make major repairs. Over the years we have grown into a great destination! We have over 40k items in our collection, well-loved-but-cared-for buildings, programs and events all year, talented staff, and I think we have a place in the heart of many folks around Wood County and beyond! Celebrating our 50th anniversary has reminded us what a treasure we have in the Wood County Museum. <3
